The winemaker

In 2002 he acquired a winery in Ribera del Duero, which was established twenty years ago. The winery has been completely redesigned and modernized. The estate includes a hundred hectares of which 60 planted with vines. With the exception of one hectare of merlot, everything is planted tinto fino, with vines ranging in age from 55 to 25 years. Planted in stony, sandy soils on clay base, they produce yields of around 20 hl per hectare. O. Fournier does not hide his ambition and strives to become one of the great names of the Ribera del Duero: handpicking, drastic sorting of the grapes, crushing part of the grapes before fermentation tanks (wood and steel) temperature controlled, hydraulic press, in barrels (80% French oak). Noticed by critics from the first vintages (2002 and 2003), O Fournier has since confirmed its status as a rising star of the region. The range comprises four wines that express the hierarchy of styles from the Ribera del Duero: Urban is a soft, fruity wine with a short aging (3 months) in wood, Spida and Alpha Spida are classic evocations the region with 12 farms and 20 months, O Fournier special wine made in the best years.
