In a few words ...

Because its wines have been recognized and appreciated for over a century, CHATEAU POUGET has always belonged to the prestigious group of Grands Crus Classés in 1855. Unique among these crus, two medallions on the pediment of its facade recall the various classifications to which it was subject prior to that of 1855. At the time, it was just a winery, The facade was converted into a dwelling in the second half of the 19th century. If the "French Paradox" is a recent media discovery, the virtues of CHATEAU POUGET wine were in a way officially recognized by the Maréchal-Duc de Richelieu, who in the 18th century gave it its coat of arms and the quatrain: "Love will spread its power over your heart, Your words will be as clear as a rooster's crow, Like the Lion you will not fear the shock, If you fill your belly with this nectar." His 10-hectare vineyard, established in the heart of the silent gravelly Margaux hills, is 60% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, with an average age of over 35 years.
