In a few words ...

"Beautiful ruddy colour, a little violet, lovely sparkle. It's a Bordeaux, a great Bordeaux? The impurities come down slowly, this wine is 23 years old, it's a 53, a very great year. The wine is the soil. This one is slightly gravelly, it's a Medoc! Wine is also sunshine. This wine benefits from a beautiful south-western exposure, on a well-sloped hillside. It's a saint-julien, château léoville las cases 1953! l?aile ou la cuisse, by claude zidi with louis de funès and coluche. One of the oldest estates on the Left Bank, the former "mont moytié" owed its fame in the 17th century to blaise antoine alexandre de gasq, who made it the largest estate in the medoc with 300 hectares of vines. Even then, the strength of the "domaine de léoville" lay in the diversity of its soils, with successive superimpositions of clay and limestone, which to this day offer complementary typicity to each grape variety and plot. Positioned at the very top of Left Bank wines, with prices rubbing shoulders with neighboring Châteaux Latour and Lafite, the estate was divided into three during the French Revolution. The las cazes heirs took over the bulk of the vineyard with 97 hectares of vines, which they named after themselves, and the poyferré and barton families did the same with the neighboring plots. Half a century later, all three properties were named 2nd cru classé de saint julien in the 1855 classification.Château léoville las cazes extends its numerous parcels from the village of saint-julien-beychevelle to pauillac. Among these, the "grand clos" parcel is reserved exclusively for the production of the grand vin. Overlooking the estuary, it is protected by long walls adjoining Château Latour, and marked by a gate adorned with the estate?s emblematic lion. At the center of the delon family?s attention for almost a century, the château produces a saint-julien close to the greatest pauillac wines, "the fruit of constant research".

Aroma

The nose is composed of violets and empyreumatic aromas such as wood, torrefaction, vanilla... As the wine ages, it will reveal high-quality game and truffle aromas.

Taste

Saint-Julien wines are renowned for combining the feminine finesse of Margaux wines with the strength of Pauillac wines. As a result, we'll find full-bodied tannins with a strong note of black fruit, giving an interesting overall balance.
