In Burgundy, at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, the 392 ha of the Santenay appellation are planted on the first slopes of Mont-de-Sène. The etymological origins of the commune date back to Roman times, when it was famous for its thermal waters and its "Santinae aquae" ("healing waters") spring.
