    In a few words ...

Château haut-bailly ii 2018le château haut-bailly is located in pessac-léognan, bordeaux. It was awarded Grand Cru Classified status in the 1959 Graves classification. The foundations of the modern vineyards date back to the mid-1530s, under the ownership of the goyaneche and daitze families. The estate was sold to the bailly and lauvarde families in 1630, who invested in the construction of a manor house and the cultivation of the land surrounding the estate. Before his death in 1655, bailly gave his name to the wines produced. The chateau and 30 hectares of vines are now owned by American banker robert wilmers. The second wine, parde haut-bailly, has been renamed haut-bailly ii since the 2018 vintage. It has been produced since 1967 from the same vineyard parcels as the grand vin. It is a blend of merlot (65%) and cabernet sauvignon (35%).cépages : 65% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon

    Tasting notes

    Appearance

The wines have a dense but lighter robe than the medoc. The hue is ruby with a touch ranging from purple to brick depending on the evolution.

    Aroma

The bouquet is often fruity, with currant and other red and black fruits to which are added smoked or roasted notes.

    Taste

Composed on average of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, the red wines of Pessac-Léognan make a good compromise between marked tannins and the greediness of the fruit. We thus find red and ripe fruits, and empyreumatic notes.
