The winemaker

The history of Champagne Xavier Loriot

The Champagne house Xavier Loriot was founded in 1891. It was established on a family vineyard that was passed down from generation to generation. From the first operator, George Jobert to Charlène Loriot, its current manager, five generations have succeeded one another.

The Xavier Loriot Champagne House is keen to maintain its status as an independent winemaker, which is why it only produces wines from its own property. To preserve its freedom, the estate has equipped itself with its own press and its own stainless steel and enamel vat room of 1,200 hectoliters. Thus, the conception of the cuvées is fully ensured by Charlène Loriot.

The Champagne Xavier Loriot vineyard

The vineyard of Champagne Xavier Loriot covers about ten hectares, in the heart of the Marne Valley. The vineyards occupy the right bank of the Marne, around the picturesque Champagne village of Binson and Orquigny. All the vines are south-facing, which allows them to take full advantage of the sunshine. The soils are mostly limestone and clay.

Champagne Xavier Loriot's grape varieties use the three Champagne grape varieties in its blends : Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Pinot Meunier is largely dominant in the proportions, bringing the champagne its roundness, along with its elegance and finesse. It also delivers on the promise of a nice long finish.

The estate is run under sustainable agriculture. Inputs are limited and emphasis is placed on natural treatments. Each year, a certain number of vines are uprooted, after a careful study determining which ones should make way for new vines. This allows us to remove only those vines that are too old and/or too weak to be productive, without destroying the entire plot. This ensures that only the best vines that produce the best grapes are left.

The Champagne Xavier Loriot vintages

Collision Meunier Brut

Collision Meunier Brut is composed entirely of Meunier. It has a golden yellow color, with straw yellow reflections. Its nose mixes aromas of passion fruit, warm apple, quince jam and tangerine. Other floral and fruit notes soon follow: mirabelle plum, orange blossom, cherry, pear, lime, pineapple, or peach.

The mouth is fleshy and pulpy, impregnated with orange and tangerine. A fine minerality pierces under the fruity volume, as well as a very fresh iodized salinity. The finish is long and tender.

Hypnotic Brut

Hypnotic Brut is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Meunier and 30% Pinot Noir. It is a complex, expressive and airy wine.

The champagne is adorned with a luminous color, with yellow-green hues accompanied by lemon yellow reflections. The nose is bursting with passion fruit, tangerine, lemon, mirabelle plum, acacia honey and quince jam.

The palate is fresh, with a delicious creamy effervescence. It is fruity, backed by a hint of lemon acidity. The finish is rich and long.
