The "bleu palmer" label underlines the very strong personality of this margaux, for which "it takes time to understand that this is a blue wine. It's not easy to give, you have to go looking for it. Exactly like Palmer, a wine that's not easy to give away, for which you have to take your time" thomas duroux manager of château palmer. among the famous wines of the margaux appellation, château palmer has always had a place of its own, immediately recognizable by its midnight-blue label, but also by its bouquet of fruit, flowers and spices, giving way on the palate to a round, powerful yet delicate texture. This character has been forged in the depths of a great terroir, but also thanks to the boldness of the people who have run the estate throughout its history.Appearing in the 17th century, the estate only became "Château Palmer" in 1814 when Charles Palmer, a brilliant British officer, gave the estate his name and soon established it with distinction on the best tables in London. In 1853, the Pereire brothers, entrepreneurs and bankers under Napoleon III, rigorously and passionately laid the foundations and structures that would enable Château Palmer to make its mark on the times and on the famous 1855 classification. In 1938, four families of wine merchants purchased the estate, giving it a long period of stability that would be illustrated by a number of outstanding vintages. Today, Château Palmer is still in the hands of two of these families, the Sichel and Mähler-Besse families. The men and women who oversee the day-to-day running and future of Château Palmer combine passion with innovation in their quest to sublimate this legendary terroir. The complex, elegant, refined and delicate wines, with their subtle velvety texture, demonstrate the full potential of this 66-hectare vineyard as they age. A mosaic of soils, an exceptional terroir on the first gravelly terrace overlooking the valley.
