In a few words ...

It all began in the first half of the 20th century, when Etienne Sauzet inherited a few vines and then made further acquisitions to create the eponymous domaine in Puligny-Montrachet. The vineyard now covers 15 hectares in the communes of puligny-montrachet, chassagne-montrachet and cormot-le-grand in the hautes côtes de beaune. Four generations later, and despite its demise in 1975, sauzet remains 6 letters that sound like a tribute to chardonnay. It's a constant source of pride to tread these mythical terroirs, the soil that gives birth to the estate's wines. For the past 15 years, Emilie and Benoit have paid particular attention to the vines, nurturing the life of the soil and listening to the plants that give energy to each grape and each wine. For the domaine, biodynamic viticulture was an obvious choice. The 80-year-old vines of Domaine Etienne Sauzet's Welcome Bâtard Montrachet are planted on very chalky soil, with a mixture of heavy clays that give the wine a fabulous aromatic intensity.
