In a few words ...

Burgundy passetoutgrain can be produced anywhere in wine-growing Burgundy. The wines are light and fruity, and should be drunk young.
The 1988 vintage is a classic, with an advantage for the Right Bank. Some Pomerols and Saint Emilions eclipsed their 1989 and 1990 younger siblings in elegance. The red wines were very tannic, very colorful, very complex. These are long-ageing wines, which can be expected to develop a fine, powerful bouquet as they age.
