    In a few words ...

"lynch-bages is surprising at 5 years of age, beautiful at 10 and irresistible at 20", said oz clarke, british wine critic. At the end of the Middle Ages, the first known owner of the site, Monsieur de Guiraud, owned an estate encompassing not only today's Lynch-Bages, but also the Châteaux Grand-Puy Lacoste and Grand-Puy Ducasse. The terroir?s winemaking potential was first exploited in the 18th century, when Irishman Thomas Lynch planted vines in 1749. He later separated parcels to create château lynch-moussas, and elevated the wines of bages to the highest level with the nomination of both properties as 5th cru classé in 1855. In 1939, the cazes family, then farmers of lynch bages and des ormes de pez, acquired these two crus before selling 0.6 hectares of bages to henri martin, thus creating château gloria. This was followed by numerous investments by the cazes family, still owners today, who built wineries, replanted vines and even created the lynch-bages white. lynch-bages wines are among the most popular in bordeaux. Fat, ripe and rich, relatively easy to understand and taste, they are bursting with fruit marked by blackcurrant and cedar, and are spectacularly full-bodied." robert parker.
