Famous the world over, Corton is the only Grand Cru Rouge appellation in the Côte de Beaune. The vineyards are located north of Beaune on gently sloping, southeast-facing soil. The vines thrive on stony, predominantly clay soils, characteristic of Corton wines. History tells us that the name of this appellation was given by Emperor Otto in the 8th century.
