The winemaker

For four generations, the Champagne Busin is recognized as one of the largest growers handling of Champagne. This success is primarily the result of a will, the will to keep the old traditions of respect for nature, wines, and constant search for quality. The vineyards of Domaine Christian Busin are located on the land of one of the most beautiful villages in Champagne classified Grand Cru Verzenay. The village of Verzenay is a charming town full of history: from the Gallo-Roman era its soils are recognized and are cultivated vines. In the ninth century it was called Virdunacus from Latin Viridium Sanum meaning "green area". In 1873, an unofficial ranking placed the town among the three best wines of Champagne: Ay for the Valley of the Marne Cramant in the Côte des Blancs and therefore Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims. The saying says elsewhere: "Verzenay: there is only one! " Partly destroyed during World War II because of its proximity to the front, however Verzenay yet now has two symbolic buildings: a mill in perfect condition located on Mount Beef and a lighthouse on Mount Rizan. The latter now houses the Museum of the Vine. Verzenay is now one of 17 villages in Champagne (from 320) Grand Cru for the quality of its grapes. Its soil, protected by the Mountain of Reims (286 m), especially produced very great Pinot Noirs bringing character, structure and keeps its Champagne. The area today includes 5.8 hectares with a vine up of Pinot Black (80%) and Chardonnay (20%). More than 60 000 bottles are produced each year and are waiting in a beautiful eighteenth century cellar to age in peace.
