The winemaker

It was in 1934 that Ernest BURN - ancestors winemakers for over 300 years, has been dedicated with tenacity and faith in the rebirth of this vineyard. He acquired plot after plot, lifted the stone walls, opened roads and replanted défricha tirelessly this steep hill limestone terroir conducive to great wines with the help of his family. The chapel dedicated to St. Imer, his protector, symbolizes the redevelopment of this historic session of Alsace, on the top of a place called Grand Cru Goldert. Today as yesterday, it is in a deep respect for nature that continues, the method of cultivation to vinification, the same essentially manual work and often rough, required by this exceptional terroir privileged microclimate. It is this precious legacy we propose to discover, vintage after vintage, through the great wines from noble grape varieties: Muscat, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling CLOS SAINT-IMER, under the sign of quality so dear to Ernest Burn (1906-1994), and phrase each time one of this great land. The estate vineyard Ernest Burn includes 10 hectares on the territory of Gueberschwhir.
