The winemaker

The estate is located in the heart of Alsace in Ammerschwihr, the Vosges, 10 km from Colmar. Guided by a true passion for wine, Etienne SIMONIS imposes its signature wines. As an artist, he creates his wines, wines of character that bring fun and do not leave indifferent. Well known for its architecture and its storks, Alsace is also for its vineyards extending over 15,000 ha.Traversé by 170 km from the Wine Route, the vineyard is nestled in the foothills of the Vosges who protect precipitation. The area of ​​Colmar and Kaysersberg valley enjoys a special microclimate with very low rainfall and maximum sunlight. This allows Ammerschwihr vines produce grapes with a beautiful maturity. Alsace wines officially count 7 varieties: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc (and Auxerrois). The field has one more: Chasselas who composed most of Edelzwicker. The field now covers 7 hectares, mainly in the town of Ammerschwihr but also in the municipalities of Bennwihr Kaysersberg and Sigolsheim. The area cultivated vineyards in the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf well as the Grand Cru Marckrain. Since 2011 plots can claim organic farming label and the field also practice biodynamic certified by the Demeter label.
