The winemaker
The Domaine de Lathevalle is located in the village of Villié-Morgon, in the renowned Charmes area.
Our vineyard covers more than 30 hectares of vines, all in the Morgon Les Charmes appellation. We have opted for an "ultra" reasoned cultivation of the vine and we work all our soils mechanically without any weedkiller.
Our wines come from an exceptional terroir: the "Les Charmes" climate, which is located to the west of the hamlet of Morgon, in the southernmost part of the appellation, on gently sloping hillsides facing south-east. We harvest all our vines by hand in order to pay particular attention to the grapes and to carry out a first sorting of the grapes in the plot.
On arrival at the winery, part of the harvest is de-stemmed and then vatted and the other part is put into whole bunch vats in our concrete vat room.
Throughout the alcoholic fermentation, punching down, pumping over and delestage are carried out according to the cuvée in order to extract a maximum of colours and aromas.
The wines are then matured either on fine lees in concrete vats (for the Domaine de Lathevalle "Les Charmes" cuvée), or in oak barrels here at the Domaine de Villié-Morgon (for the La Trad' cuvée).
