The winemaker

From the Beaujolais of Beaujeu

Fabien Forest's estate is a family vineyard that extends over 8 hectares, in the vicinity of the commune of Lantignié, not far from Beaujeu, the historic capital of Beaujolais.

On sandy and granitic soils, the vineyard is planted with Gamay vines for the reds and Chardonnay for the whites. The slopes are south facing, at an altitude of 300m, allowing the two grape varieties to express themselves in the best possible way and produce a quality harvest.

A committed vineyard

The estate has benefited from a unique geological heritage, so the winemaker is dedicated to exploring and exploiting the riches of the place.

The soil is worked as naturally as possible. The ploughing is done with a horse, which does not compact the soil and does not emit any pollution.

A young winemaker in his thirties, Fabien Forest made his first organic trials in 2015, truly embarking on this path in 2017 (he is certified organic in 2020). Organic farming has allowed him to sublimate the Lantignié terroir and bring its soils to life, in order to produce wines with a more poignant authenticity.

In the winery, the wines are bottled without fining or filtration and with a very low amount of sulfur.

The wines

The estate produces its wines under three appellations: Morgon, Beaujolais-Villages and Beaujolais Lantignié.

The Beaujolais-Village is marketed under the name "Authentic". A blend of granite and bluestone parcels, it delivers a fruity wine. With a sparkling light red color, its nose is as sweet as it is fruity. On the palate, an explosion of fruit that invites you to refill.

The Beaujolais Lantignié is bottled under the name "Volcanic". With a very clear color, it is similar to the "Authentic" cuvée, but its matter is more voluminous in the mouth. It will thus be able to keep longer and to taste on more full-bodied or spicy dishes.
