The winemaker
Nicolas Chemarin the fourth generation to operate land Marchampt. If his great-grandfather was of mixed farming, his grandfather exploited as vines. It was he who bought the large house of the area and built the winery in half-buried concrete still used today. His father took over and operate along the hillsides Marchampt Beaujolais-Villages. As for Nicolas, he first apprenticed in Pouilly-Fuissé then worked two years at Louis Head, where he was responsible for vinification. He was in ¾ time there and had some vines along the baseline (2006) and then he decided to take over vineyards and to do it (2008). It currently operates 6.5 ha in Beaujolais-Villages (3 hectares leased to his father and 3.5 hectares leased to a neighbor) and the Morgon and Régnié (Les Charmes, which he bought in 2008) . His father still uses 4.5 ha in Beaujolais-Villages is retiring at the end of the year. Nicolas recover the vineyards of his father and let the rent of the neighbor.
