In the 1950s, louis bertrand settled in charentay, a village in the north of the beaujolais region. From 1960 onwards, louis gradually developed direct sales of his wines to bistros in Lyon and Paris. In 1972, louis, his wife renée and their son guy, took over the château de grand-pré estate in fleurie. in a short space of time, the family gave the estate a new lease of life: the winery was reopened and the buildings renovated. two decades later, in 1992, guy and annick took over the estate. The couple continued the work they had begun and accelerated the estate's growth with the acquisition of the plots adjoining the château. Concerned about respecting the environment and adopting a sustainable approach, they abandoned the use of weedkillers and other chemical pesticides in vine growing. And they adopt cultivation methods adapted to each plot to bring the harvest to maturity in optimal conditions. This approach extends to the winery, where the first experimental vinifications were carried out without yeast or so2 (carbon dioxide).
