The winemaker

An estate rooted in respect for the land

It was in 1989 that Michel Guignier settled in Villié-Morgon and bought 3 hectares of vines in the Morgon appellation. Today, more than 11 hectares of vines are cultivated on many appellations (Morgon, Brouilly, Chiroubles, Beaujolais, Saint-Amour, Fleurie, Moulin à vent, Mâcon Villages...).

For Michel Guignier, the terroir is the starting point in the winemaking process. The land must be able to express itself in its fullest frankness and be as alive as possible. For that, the domain works in organic culture, a culture of the living which tends to operate an alchemy between terroir, grape variety and the man.

The goal is not to let nature do its work, but to accompany it, to create a harmony between man and the terroir. For that, the ploughing equipment is used at very precise times to seize the earth at the best moment. Bordeaux mixture and sulfur are used according to the weather for phytosanitary treatments. Ploughing is traditionally done by horse.

Natural wines

The wines are aged in oak barrels on lees.

The wines produced are thus authentic, natural, and with a strong character. For example, we have the Morgon Canon, a dense, full-bodied wine with spicy notes. It also offers a beautiful freshness that is noticeable when you see its brilliant red color.
