The winemaker

He is remembered as the passionate man behind the development of Libourne wines, at a time when many wine merchants saw only the Médoc and vineyards near the Garonne and Bordeaux. Following his death in 1955, Jean-Marie, then Marcel and finally Bernard Moueix, his great-grandson, took over the reins of the company until 1996. Ten years later, the Jeanjean Group took over Maison Antoine Moueix with the firm intention of breathing new life into the company, while drawing inspiration from the values inherited from its founder. In 2009, the company became even more firmly rooted in the terroir, adding to Château Grand Renom, a property on the Dordogne hillsides in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, classified in the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations, another prestigious Saint-Émilion estate, Château Capet-Guillier, located within sight of the church tower of Saint-Hippolyte. Under the aegis of its president Marc Lecomte (our photo), Maison Antoine Moueix enlists the services of the "Vignerons Consultants" team, headed by Stéphane Derenoncourt. For Marc Lecomte, the Maison is built around three unifying principles: "ownership, a strong symbol of Bordeaux wines in all appellations, both well-known and lesser-known; passion, which drives rigorous selection and vinification, with the aim of producing the very best Bordeaux wines; prestige, which leads to close, trust-based relationships with the owners of the Grands Crus Classés".
