The winemaker

The History of the Chateau of Hâ

The Château du Hâ estate was created around 1900 and then named Château Beausite. Its 50 hectares were divided between vineyards, meadows and forests. At the end of the First World War, it was left to be abandoned.

The Château du Hâ was bought in 1950 by a Breton, Mr. Duhil, who decided to give up the 30 hectares of forests to devote the 20 hectares of meadows to the breeding of cows and fodder culture.

Mr. Duhil sold the property in 1997 to a young couple wishing to become young farmers, Cédric and Isabelle Moreau. At that time, the estate consisted of 6 hectares of meadows classified in the Haut Médoc wine register, 12 hectares of grassland and 2 hectares of oak woods. The buildings covered 400 m².

The Moreau couple planted 6 hectares of vines and simultaneously started breeding horses. They developed the premises, with the construction of a stable, a sand pit and the renovation of the existing buildings to be able to vinify their production themselves.

The Château du Hâ vineyard

The grape varieties of the 6 hectares of vines of Château du Hâ are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The terroir alternates between gravel and clay-limestone soil. The vines benefit from the mild climate of the region.

Château du Hâ is conducted in organic agriculture and has the label. Chemicals are excluded, in order to preserve the quality of the soils and promote biodiversity. The winemaking, as well as the bottling, is done at the estate, which guarantees the quality.

In addition, Château du Hâ has obtained the HVE certification : High Environmental Value. It is an additional guarantee of respect for the environment, both for the cultivation of the vines and for the manufacture of wine.
