The history of Château du Hâ

The Château du Hâ estate was created around 1900, when it was known as Château Beausite. Its 50 hectares were divided between vineyards, meadows and forests. After the First World War, it was abandoned.

In 1950, Château du Hâ was bought by a Breton, Mr. Duhil, who decided to give up the 30 hectares of forest to devote the 20 hectares of meadows to raising cows and fodder.

Mr Duhil sold the property in 1997 to a young couple, Cédric and Isabelle Moreau, who wanted to set up as young farmers. At that time, the estate consisted of 6 hectares of meadows classified in the Haut Médoc wine register, 12 hectares of grassland and 2 hectares of oak woodland. The buildings covered an area of 400 m².

The Moreau couple planted 6 hectares of vines and simultaneously started breeding horses. They fitted out the premises, building a stable, a sandpit and renovating the existing buildings so that they could make their own wine.

The Château du Hâ vineyard

The 6 hectares of Château du Hâ vines are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The terroir alternates between gravel and clay-limestone soils. The vines benefit from the region's mild climate.

Château du Hâ is farmed agriculture biologique and holds the label. Chemicals are excluded, in order to preserve soil quality and promote biodiversity. Vinification, as well as bottling, is carried out on the estate, guaranteeing quality.

In addition, Château du Hâ has obtained HVE certification: High Environmental Value. This is a further guarantee of respect for the environment, both in the cultivation of the vines and in the production of the wine.
