The winemaker

In 1919, Jean-Marie L'Amouller Breton stopover in Blaye, falls in love with the area and a young Blayaise. Here begins the story of Frédignac castle vineyard. The young sailor bought a house and agricultural land in the municipality of Saint-Martin-Lacaussade, specifically in the locality Frédignac. Soon, the firm exploited the land for dairy, grain and planted vineyards on the slopes of Frédignac to produce wine. The vine flourishes well on clay and limestone land of the Gironde and, over time, the operation went from mixed farming to monoculture. The vineyards of the old Castle Saugeron - classified by Charles COCKS in September 1874 in Bordeaux and its Wines, Editions Féret (click) - améliorèrent qualitatively production. Continuing its evolution, Michel L'Amouller leaves the wine cooperative of Cars in 1984 to launch the first Castle Frédignac vintage appellation 1st Côtes de Blaye. In 2012, nearly 100 years after planting the first vine, operation is resumed by Vincent and Ludivine. Both graduates of environmental science, they transform gradually operation but remain committed to the values that have made the success of the Castle Frédignac and its wines AOC Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux: respect for the work of the earth to develop a genuine product. True to the tradition of the wines of Blaye, our products enjoy an excellent quality-price ratio. Our soil, combined with our expertise, gives a wine with powerful and balanced tannins. Driven by the desire to continuously improve the quality of our wines, we now convert a portion of our land in organic farming. Besides a better respect for nature and the environment, this approach will develop the biodiversity of living organisms in our soils and our vineyards. This delicate balance will increase the aromatic potential of our wines by focusing more aromatic tannins in the berries.
