The winemaker

It's at a place called "Bert", located south of the AOC Saint Emilion, we discover the Château Grand Bert | Bert Graves. 11 hectares of vines around a beautiful mansion in the 15th century dovecote, both contemplate the famous steeple of the village of Saint Emilion. Ranked as World Heritage by UNESCO, the vineyards of Saint Emilion produces a wine that the English have dubbed "king of wines", the king of wines. This ranking devotes an exceptional wine terroir where vineyards are organized in tiers, which earned him the epithet "hill of a thousand castles." The climate of Saint-Emilion is oceanic and temperate, thanks to the nearby Dordogne. It softens the summers and avoid spring frosts. The back seasons are sunny: the ripening of the grapes, including Merlot, is perfect. For AOC Grand Cru, there are important qualitative criteria to be met, including a maximum base yield limited to 40 hl / ha. This low efficiency, one of the most demanding of Bordeaux, requires producers to limit the load of the vine, so the grape berries are highly concentrated elements dyes, tannic and aromatic. Moreover, the approval requires two tastings, one after a mandatory 12-month aging. Sophie & Laurent Poitevin are pleased to present the wines marked by solid tannins but very finely velvety, giving these wines an elegant structure and a tasty and pulpy flesh. Their aging potential is important, however, often exceeding ten years.
