The History of Chateau Lalande

Château Lalande appears in the archives for the first time in 1816 for the constitution of the estate, then in 1819 for the construction of the buildings. It belonged to Jean Dubosc who passed it on in 1834 to his son Pierre.

Since its creation, eight generations of Dubosc have succeeded each other at the head of Château Lalande. The Second World War affected the management of the estate, as Georges Dubosc returned very affected. It was then his wife, Marguerite, who took over the running of the estate.

Château Lalande then changed name, but not family, when Anne Marie Georgette Darriet, née Dubosc, only daughter, succeeded her mother in 1990. Then it was her daughter's turn - her married name Lescoutra - who inherited it in 1992.

Since 2012, Château Lalande has been managed by Xavier Lescoutra.

The vineyard of Château Lalande

The vineyard of Chateau Lalande covers an area of 8 hectares, divided into two parts, approximately one kilometer apart. The vineyard is made up of 3 grape varieties.

Merlot, which occupies the clay-limestone soils, constitutes the majority of the estate's production, with about 65% of the vines. It is the earliest, and therefore harvested the earliest. It allows the wine to acquire a good capacity of keeping.

Cabernet Sauvignon comes next with 25% of the vines. It brings its power to the wine and gives it its well-controlled tannins.

The Petit Verdot completes the vineyard, with 10% of the vines. It is the latest and closes the harvest.

Since the 2014 vintage, Chateau Lalande is certified HVE, High Environmental Value.
