The winemaker

The history of the estate

Chateau Lamothe has its origins in the 16th century, when the building was founded in the commune of Haux in the Bordeaux vineyards, and was devoted to viticulture from the beginning. The current family that manages the estate has been in place for 4 generations now after settling there in 1956.

For centuries, the various owners of Château Lamothe have shaped its history, expanded the vineyard, and developed the cellars. The wines are marketed with great dynamism, both in France and internationally.

Commitments

Today, the vineyard covers 80 hectares of vines (part of which was acquired in 1991 and allocated to Chateau Manos). In order to produce the healthiest grapes possible, and wines that most fully express the terroir that gave them life. In the vineyards as in the cellar, the elaboration of the wines is respectful of biodiversity.

Thus, since 2018, Château Lamothe has received the High Environmental Value certification.

The wines

The Valentine by Valentine white is a blend of Sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Aged in new barrels, the wine has lovely fruit notes that blend with the wood to combine finesse and power. Ideal on a seafood platter, fish in sauce or a soft pastry.

The Chateau Lamothe de Haux white is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. It is aged on lees for three weeks, giving it a fairly round and supple character, as well as a very expressive nose of white-fleshed fruit. Perfect with oysters and a seafood platter, or with goat cheese.

The Chateau Lamothe de Haux red Première cuvée is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Aged in a mix of new and older barrels, this cuvée achieves a beautiful harmony between power and velvet, accompanied by woody notes and giving way to a round and supple finish. Enjoy with red meat in sauce.

The Valentine by Valentine red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aged in new barrels, which gives it a delicate woody aspect, melted tannins and a beautiful power. Explosive attack as fruity as woody, the wine is endowed with a beautiful length. Perfect to accompany a game.

The Chateau Lamothe de Haux red is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine is supple, fruity and drinkable, and boasts mellow, non-aggressive tannins. In short, this cuvée is a pleasure to drink with grilled or roasted meats.
