The winemaker
La Closerie Saint Roc, a small walled estate at the gateway to Saint-Émilion and Pomerol in the commune of Puisseguin, extends over 16 hectares of clay-limestone soil and asteriated limestone subsoil. Alex Anglebin (1807-1902), ancestor of the Amoreau family of winegrowers at "le Puy", first planted the vineyard with Mourvèdre and Colombard grapes. At the end of his life, these exceptional plots of land escaped direct inheritance and continued outside the family. In 2012, Pascal and Valérie Amoreau, in association with Harold Langlais, took over the estate with the aim of revealing its singular identity, and producing new wines with a unique expression different from that of le Puy.
