In a few words ...

Graves is the only appellation in France to take its name from its soil type. Brownish in color, this soil of pebbles, stones and coarse gravel is rich in iron oxide. Protected by the Landes forest, its geographical location shelters it from storms and drought, thanks to its proximity to the Garonne River. Red fruit aromas dominate. The red wines are elegant.
The 1981 vintage is a little-known one, as it was austere at the outset. It has evolved favorably and can still produce good bottles.
