Clarence de Haut-Brion is the name of Château Haut-Brion's second red wine since the 2007 vintage. Château Haut-Brion is the lord of the Graves. It secured this supreme position when its red wines were classified as 1er Cru in 1855, alongside the prestigious châteaux of the Médoc. J. Suckling: 94-95/100
"It differs from its illustrious elder in its blend, with less Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) and Cabernet Franc (5%), more Merlot (71%) and a hint of Petit Verdot (1%). The result is a wine of fine presence, with a lovely deep, limpid ruby color. The bouquet combines power and finesse: vanilla, licorice, ripe grapes and floral notes. Well-structured and rising, the palate is served by solid tannins. A fine, distinctive bottle.

Appearance
The wines have a dense but lighter robe than the medoc. The hue is ruby with a touch ranging from purple to brick depending on the evolution.
Aroma
The bouquet is often fruity, with currant and other red and black fruits to which are added smoked or roasted notes.

Taste
Composed on average of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, the red wines of Pessac-Léognan make a good compromise between marked tannins and the greediness of the fruit. We thus find red and ripe fruits, and empyreumatic notes.
