The estate / the house / the cellar:
the château clos fourtet extends over 13ha, and is surrounded by walls as in burgundy, hence the appellation clos. La closerie de fourtet is the château's 2nd wine. It is a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in oak barrels, but for a shorter period than the grand vin clos fourtet.
the wine:the color of this wine is ruby red. Aromas of black cherry and stone express themselves on the nose, mixed with a few hints of spice. This very fruity wine has great balance and finesse. Its finish is fresh and slightly mentholated.
Ageing and food pairing:la closerie de fourtet can be enjoyed now, but can easily be kept for around ten years. It will prove the ideal companion to lamb chops, wild duck, or why not a pan-fried cep mushroom. It can also be served with cheeses such as maroille.
