The winemaker

The Bonhoste Castle

The Château de Bonhoste is located opposite Saint-Emilion, overlooking the Dordogne valley and on the left bank of the river. Bernard Fournier's forefathers, the Buissière family, acquired the property in 1895. The facilities include an incredible cellar dug directly into the heart of the rock 200 years ago providing perfect conditions for the wines and atypical guest rooms fitted out in foudres.

The climate is conducive to the cultivation of the vine with mild winters, few frosts and warm temperatures in summer. The clay-limestone soil is draining.

The 44 hectares of the estate are managed in accordance with the principles of sustainable agriculture and obtained the HVE High Environmental Value certification in 2013. Preservation of biodiversity, control of yields, selection at maturity, everything is done in the vineyard and the cellar to promote the expression of this great terroir.

Le Château la Moulière

In the 17th century, the lands of Château la Moulière already hosted a wine-making activity and Colette Fournier's grandfather bought the property and the mansion built in the century in 1948. The 22 hectares of land are located on an exceptional terroir and have a noble grape variety. They are also HVE certified.

Bernard and Colette Fournier will combine their properties in 1977 and operate the vineyard until 2005, when their children Sylvaine and Yannick take over the estate. Today, they still accompany the evolution of the property.

The wines

Vignobles Fournier offers a varied collection of wines, with two Crémants, two Bergeracs, as well as a classic range and a Prestige range, each of which comes in four vintages.

The Château de Bonhoste white is a fresh and balanced Bordeaux made with 10% Muscadelle, 30% Semillon and 60% Sauvignon Blanc. The nose offers a fruity aromatic bouquet with notes of peach, pear and apricot and floral aromas of broom and daffodil. This is a perfect wine to enjoy with a cooked fish dish.

The Chateau de Bonhoste rosé has received multiple awards. It is a fruity Bordeaux rosé with aromas of red currants and black currants, made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It offers a balanced mouthfeel, with a finish of candy notes. It's a great accompaniment to summer meals like a tomato and mozzarella salad, grilled meats or savory pies.

Coup 2 Foudres 2015 is a Prestige 100% Merlot with aromas of black and red fruits with hints of cocoa. The palate is complex and the tannins are silky. It is an ideal wine to enjoy with grilled prime rib or duck breast.
