The winemaker

The Lopez vineyards include Chateau de l'Hermitage and Chateau Lagrugère where passion, pleasure and sharing are passed on from generation to generation since 1963. The family vineyard, 6 km from the Bastide of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, a few kilometers from Bordeaux, located in the region of Entre-Deux-Mers in the Gironde, is ideally exposed. The farm is located next to the smallest village in France in area, Castelmoron d'Albret, which regularly staying Jeanne d'Albret, mother of Henry IV. The story goes that he halted in his suite, domiciled in Castle Hermitage, during his visits to Navarre. For Lopez vineyards, the wine remains a simple pleasure, to share and enjoy. Family estate of Bordeaux region, Château de l'Hermitage and Chateau Lagrugère are operated and developed for more than half a century by the Lopez family. Jean Lopez Camara and his wife Jeanne Arlette started this adventure in 1963 in the village of Saint-Martin-du-Puy, the place called Hermitage and Lagrugère. Their son, Gerard and Jean-Claude, continued development of operations from 1980 Since 2010, Geraldine Lopez, representing the third generation, took over the reins of the vineyard. The winemaker wants to perpetuate the traditional winemaking methods while gradually bringing a breath of modernity in the field of management. One of his greatest victories: to have taken the step towards organic certification.
