The winemaker

The desire to field Meix Foulot truly reveal the characteristics of each terroir in each cuvée. This is done at all levels of the grape growing and winemaking. size of the work, budding, amendments are designed based on desired yields to ensure the optimum concentration of wines, depending on the vigor and age of the plant. The typical characteristics of each terroir is preserved in the vineyard by a reasoned work of the various interventions during vinification by the respect of the entire fruit. From the beginning of the domain Meix Foulot, my father and I have worked in the concept of respect for the environment with the "common sense" as a guide. Always wary of fads, but observers from different experiences, innovations, we wanted to change the field to more quality in best preserving the land capital of Burgundy. In 2008, together with my team, we pass the Cape of certification "farming" of the field of Meix Foulot. Work habits were shaken to act more wisely for quality, safety and lover of Burgundy wines. This certification ensures traceability of all vintages of the field Foulot Meix, from the choice of plant material each vine to the wine glass! The field of Meix Foulot located on the foothills of the ruins of the castle of Montaigu (one of the last bastions of the Dukes of Burgundy), belongs to the family for more than two centuries now. My great grandfather back also created the Mercurey appellation in 1923. But it was really Paul de Launay, my father, who will create the entity of the area with its own style and reputation in 1956. Modest in size, the area of Meix Foulot grow year after year, always looking for quality and authenticity. Paul de Launay was probably a forerunner in controlling yields, seeking maximum concentration in wines, while working as close to nature (plowing vineyards treatments if necessary). In 1996, back from the US, I decided to take over management of the family estate in the continuity of my father's work. Year after year, the quality research pushes the field forward. The area stabilizes at 20 hectares located primarily in the appellation Mercurey.
