The winemaker

In 1919, he sold the least vines to afford a large plot of Clos Vougeot Grand Cru among the most famous of Burgundy. proud man, he will build a magnificent portal to its vineyards, the portal can still be seen today from the national road 74, along the Clos de Vougeot west. It is also one of the first winemakers graduates of the University of Dijon in the 20 His son John will do the same a few years later. Together and over time, they will carry the Grivot Domain to international fame. Like his father before him, John will, in 1984, acquired a beautiful plot of grand cru not least: 31 acres of Richebourg. Stephen will succeed his father permanently in 1987. Stephen Grivot learned his wine at Lycée de Beaune, in California and in other winemakers in France. This openness and taste to do even better than its predecessors led him to question the wine-practice time. Everything will be reviewed: the size, the amendments, the biological balance of the soil, harvest dates, the maceration, fermentation temperatures, aging in barrels ... In short everything possible to produce large and opulent wines as only the great wines of Burgundy can be and wines to which will honor these great terroirs for the coming decades and the delight of connoisseurs.
