Domaine JF & PL Bersan

A family story

Since 1453, the Bersan family has been cultivating vines in the village of Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, a few kilometers from Auxerre. This picturesque village has become a real tourist attraction! The underground network linked to the cellars was once used for winemaking, but also for defense.

Heirs to a great lineage of winegrowers, Jean-François Bersan and his son, Pierre-Louis, are committed to perpetuating their ancestors' tradition of respect for the product through respect for their terroirs.

Independent winegrowers, both seek to breathe new life into the estate, integrating technological developments into the winemaking process to make the most of the potential of their vines and extract the best from them.

The vineyard

Jean-François and Pierre-Louis cultivate 13 hectares of white grape varieties and 7 hectares of red grape varieties.

The house philosophy lies in highlighting the exceptional terroirs of Saint-Bris, respecting nature and the soil, and using cutting-edge technology to produce the very best.

Jean-François and Pierre-Louis are committed to guaranteeing respect for the environment, modernity and authenticity. That's why they are committed to making their wines as naturally as possible: the vineyard is run using lutte raisonnée and organic farming. Since 2019, the estate has been HVE certified.

The entire harvest is vinified in a modern winery and is the subject of precise, meticulous work.

Once bottled, the wines are stored in the vaulted cellars dating from the 11th and 12th centuries located in the center of the village for aging.

From spring onwards, the cellar is open to curious visitors, where Jean-François and Pierre-Louis welcome them for a privileged and convivial moment.

Les vins PL & JF Bersan

Assertive winemakers, domaine PL & JF Bersan offer a wide range of wines and spirits: Saint-Bris, Côtes d'Auxerre, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Bourgogne Aligoté in white, Côtes d'Auxerre and Irancy in red, a Côte d'Auxerre rosé, a Crémant de Bourgogne but also 2 Ratafias and a Vieux Marc de Bourgogne.

The Bourgogne Côte d'Auxerre Cuvée Marianne white is made from old Chardonnay vines and is the result of 100% aging in oak barrels for 12 months. Fruity and woody, it reveals itself with aeration.

Cuvée Marianne in red reveals concentration and balance thanks to the work of natural yeasts and 12 months' aging in oak barrels.

The Côte d'Auxerre white and red wines are undeniably frank and richly aromatic.
