The winemaker

The history of the area began in 1909 with Jean-Baptiste CHAUVENET his wife Celine and their son Henry was born in 1905. Jean-Baptiste worked for several years for various wineries operators. In 1909 he acquired the walls in Pommard which will build the headquarters of Domaine CHAUVENET. Then gradually as the time he buys parcels of vines and thus enlarges the area. A few years later, Henry took over helped by his wife Martha. Jacques, their son, born in 1931, works on the farm at the age of 13. In 1972, his parents have retired, Jacques assumes in turn operate vineyards. The Estate then has 5 hectares, but there is still land to replant. This will be done later when Jacques wife Marlyse. In 1984, they have a daughter who early Jackie will look at the work in the vineyard. In 1985, they replant the untapped land and so enlarge a very significant way the wine territory. In 1989 Marlyse took control of the area, it has already invested in this work for many years, under the direction of Jacques always present. His daughter Jackie, who has attended oenology and viticulture studies collaborating with it. To enlarge and diversify the wine Domaine CHAUVENET, Marlyse creates a trading: it purchases grapes to other fields (still in Burgundy). Thus Marlyse can make wine and breed these new names in the same way that his estate wines. The wines of Domaine CHAUVENET are now marketed by Jackie and her husband Philip.
