The winemaker

It all began in 1900 when Max Quenot, vineyard worker of the famous Maison Latour, bought a vineyard of Corton Grand Cru Perrières. Despite the ravages of phylloxera crisis, the small area enlarges gradually. Soon, another parcel of Corton Grand Cru stubble is purchased. The work of the vine, entirely manual, is particularly exhausting along the steep slopes of the hillsides of the hill of Corton. Tillage (plowing) is performed using Kléber, the horse family. Fortunately, Max receives the support of his eldest son René, who chooses to 14 years to assist his father. In 1937, to reward his son René who just obtained his school certificate, Max offers him a trip to Paris where the Expo was held. He took the opportunity to offer its wines famous brasseries of Montparnasse, such as La Coupole. Thus began to build special customer domain. Soon the restaurant became accustomed to come enjoy themselves to the domain wine barrels. In 1946, the estate stands outside the village of Aloxe-Corton, where it remains today. The following year, John Meuneveaux, tough guy originally from Morvan, married Yvonne Quenot which is the first sister Rene Quenot. He joined René in Aloxe-Corton and learns the winemaker ... The field becomes Quenot the field ... Quenot-Meuneveaux! A few good years allowed to gradually buy several vineyards of Aloxe-Corton Aloxe-Corton 1er cru. Jean René and then take in hand the conduct of the field, and get involved in the life of the profession. Chairman of the Wine Syndicate, President of the Society of St. Vincent from 1955 to 1980, René Quenot marks the wine history of the village. For his part, John develops commercial activity and good-humor works wonders with customers. Both were made knights of the Order of the Knights of Tastevin. Since 2009, Freddy the second son of Didier and Theresa, joined the operation to take over. Graduated in Viticulture Enology and trade in wines and spirits to the famous Beaune Wine High School, he worked with his father for improving the quality of wines. It is based on techniques of recent productions while keeping a traditional way. The wine perspective, Freddy is vigilant about protecting the environment and puts plowing to date. Also, Freddy has sound advice of his wife Daisy, oenologist graduated from the University of Dijon.
