The winemaker

In 1814, Jean-Joseph Moreau, a young cooper, married the daughter of a winegrower, thus inheriting the oldest Chablis winery. Driven by a passion for the vine and respect for traditional values, he ran the business with a master's hand, quickly becoming one of the most important producers of Chablis. He was a pioneer in the region, and his success grew to such an extent that, over the years, J. Moreau et Fils established itself on the international market, becoming a prestigious House acclaimed the world over. Since 1999, the company has been developing the original, lively concept of viniculture and, by extension, the winemaking profession. "Viniculture" is the link between winemaking and viticulture. It reconciles two inseparable aspects of wine: work in the vineyard and work in the vat room and cellar. The strength of Maison J. Moreau et Fils lies in the combination of know-how at every stage. This know-how is embodied by Lucie Depuydt, the company's winemaker who, like a goldsmith chiseling her jewel, combines her perfect knowledge of geology with gentle, careful vinification and ageing to reveal and protect the subtle, highly sensitive aromas of Chardonnay.
