The winemaker

Until not so long time, Bachelet brothers worked together to cultivate the area of 100 hectares. As so often in wine families when the children are grown, François Bachelet left the family area and recovered 33 hectares of vineyards (see Bachelet-Monnot). Vincent and Jean-François are now the sole owners of the domain Bachelet D. These brothers are traditionalists, they do most of the work in the vineyard themselves. Minimum quantities of pesticides and organic fertilizers are used. Many grapes are removed green harvest to reduce the volume. Harvesting is done by hand prevents unripe or damaged grapes to go into winemaking and prevent premature oxidation. The field started with only 8 hectares. Father Bernard took the lead in 1947. During the 1950s he collected over vineyards and in 1980 he gave the vineyards to these son. At that time it represented a total of 43 hectares. The son developed the area up to 100 hectares. After the departure of François again reduced to 67 hectares.
