domaine la soufrandière is located in vinzelles, southern burgundy in the mâconnais region, acquired by the paternal grandfather in 1947. The bret brothers, jean philippe and jean guillaume, work 4 ha of pouilly-vinzelles climat "les quarts", 0.55 ha of pouilly-vinzelles climat "les longeays" and 1 ha of mâcon-vinzelles "le clos de grand-père". All the vines, aged from 33 to 80+ years, are magnificently situated, east, south-east, in the middle and upper slopes, made of very red clay and limestone known as "à entroques", dating back more than 180 million years. When the Bret brothers took over the estate in 2000, they decided to switch to organic and biodynamic farming. This type of farming, which simply respects life and uses no herbicides or synthetic pesticides, seems to them to be the only way to produce exceptionally balanced, vibrant wines that reveal their terroir. The estate has been certified organic and biodynamic since 2006 (official conversion in 2003). Rediscovering old tools that respect the soil, putting animals and people back into the vines, limiting compaction: these are the reasons for their interest.
