In a few words ...
One of the most generous donors, Bernard Gauvain bequeathed his entire estate to the Hospice de la Charité in 1804. One of his many residences was also donated by his widow, and today houses the Union des Maisons de Vins de Bourgogne on Place Carnot, whose door is surmounted by the Gauvain family cipher.
