The winemaker

The Domain

Located in Bassuet, in the Côtes de Champagne, the vineyard extends over a terroir consisting of limestone soils, perfect for growing Chardonnay, the dominant grape variety of the estate.

The vines are mostly 20 to 40 years old and are cultivated using sustainable agriculture. The use of herbicide is limited, natural products are preferred as much as possible. It produces authentic and refined wines, with a production volume of over 110,000 bottles each year.

The know-how, between tradition and modernity

The team carries out each step of the wine production, from the cultivation and care of the vines to the work in the cellar and the winery, respecting the traditional wine-making know-how. Harvesting is done by hand, to preserve the grapes and obtain quality juices, and each plot is harvested at the moment when the grapes are at optimal maturity.

The pressing is carried out according to ancient methods, with modern equipment allowing a quality work. Each parcel is worked individually during the vinification, to allow the full expression of its aromatic potential.

The blending of the different grape varieties is then carried out, mixing reserve wines and the juices from the different vats, to elaborate the vintages of the L'Hoste range. The wine is then bottled, it will ferment a second time and become effervescent. It is then left in the aging cellar for three to four years and can develop its full potential.

The champagnes

Five cuvées are offered each year:

the Brut Prestige Blanc de Blancs is the emblematic cuvée of the Maison L'Hoste. It is made from 100% Chardonnay, and it perfectly expresses its terroir. This champagne offers aromas of white flowers with mineral notes and was awarded a gold medal at the Lyon International Competition. A perfect bottle to open with a seafood platter or to accompany an aperitif.

The Brut Tradition is made from a blend of 30% Pinot Noir and 70% Chardonnay. The palate is fresh and the nose is fruity, with marked aromas of apricot and peach. This is a racy champagne to open for festive moments.

Les Loges extra brut is a parcel-based cuvée, made from the selection of the best grapes from the oldest plot on the estate. It is a fresh and pure champagne, perfect for accompanying a gourmet meal or an aperitif.

L'Hoste Rosé is made from a blend of 100% Pinot Noir red wine and the house's Blanc de Blancs base. It's an intensely fruity champagne that's best enjoyed with dessert.

Brut Nature is a non-dosage cuvée that powerfully expresses the singularities of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The nose offers aromas of white fruits with nuances of exotic fruits and a mineral note. The mouth is round with buttery notes brought by the Pinot Noir.
