The winemaker

The origin of the estate dates back to the nineteenth century with the construction of its magnificent vaulted cellars in 1820 and production of the first bottle of Champagne area by Alfred Ravez in 1863. Family Ravez was the first domain owner family. A daughter married a Ravez Quenardel just before the Second World War before giving birth in 1938 to Francis Quenardel who joined his father in Verzenay in 1956 to work with him on, then only 60 acres of vineyards. Champagne Quenardel and Son was born ... He resumed operation definitively in 1965 after planting vines on many quality vineyards around Reims eventually reaching 7 hectares. Francis bought the house of the Place Carnot and the wineries in 1989 to his cousin Jean-François Ravez. One of his three daughters, Christel, married Jean-Christophe Faucomprez in the 1980s and the couple continued the current domain and its 7 hectares in 1993. 21 years later, the family Quenardel- Faucomprez entrusted the keys of its terroirs Labruyère family. One of the traditions we uphold is the prolonged aging of all our wines. For example, our gross without year will leave our cellars after 5 years of quiet rest of our historic cellars. Today we would bring this area among the elite of Champagne Manipulating Récoltants- combining tradition, advanced winemaking and plot selection highlighting each of our terroirs.
