Domaine Renucci

The Renucci estate is a Corsican vineyard founded more than 170 years ago in Balagne, between Calvi and Ile Rousse. Conducted in organic farming, the estate produces olive oil and wines in several appellations: AOP Corsica- Calvi, sweet wine, Pitraïa, Vignola, Biancu Gentile.

The history of the vineyard

The history of Domaine Renucci has been written in Corsica since 1850 in the commune of Feliceto. On these lands of Balagne, the culture of the vine and the olive trees became an art of living. Today, the estate produces organic wines, respecting the family viticultural traditions, transmitted to each generation and enriched by each winegrower. Bernard Renucci has been running the estate since 1991, after learning the trade from his own father.

The Renucci family planted the first vines more than a century and a half ago between Calvi and Ile Rousse. The estate then consisted of two hectares and only three typical grape varieties of the island of beauty were planted: Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu and Malvasia. Monseigneur Ange-François Renucci, owner of these lands, offered the churches of Balagne the wines produced at the estate for the celebration of masses. The reputation of the whites and rosés of the domain only grew afterwards.

The wine estate

Expanded over the years, the property now includes seven parcels and covers 28 hectares in the Corse-Calvi PDO. The vineyard has also been enriched and now includes a wide variety of Corsican grape varieties. In addition to the first three planted at the creation of the estate, we find Biancu Gentile, Cudiverte, Aleaticu, Riminese, Minustellu and Genovese, as well as two Mediterranean varieties: Grenache and Syrah.

This region in the northwest of Corsica offers exceptional climatic and geological conditions to the vines and the ancient generations have moreover made the Balagne the granary of the island of beauty. The vineyard of the estate extends in the Reginu Valley on a granite arena with a soil of clay and sand mixed together. The winds and the sunshine bring warmth and ventilation to the grapes.

The wines

The Vignola range comes in vintages in all three colors. The white is a harmonious wine with a rich aromatic bouquet and a beautiful length in the mouth. Made exclusively with Malvasia, it is a wine to enjoy with a seafood platter, grilled fish or a cheese plate.

The Red Vignola will be better suited to accompany grilled meat or meat in sauce. It is made from a blend of Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu, Syrah and Grenache. Its fruity aromas of blackcurrant, morello cherry and blackberry give way to notes of spices with a beautiful finish. It is a delicate wine with a very frank structured attack, softened by supple tannins.

The rosé from the Vignola range is a 100% Sciaccarellu, it will be perfect with grilled meats or charcuterie. The nose is greedy and straight with an intense aromatic palette marked by red fruits. The mouth is also fruity and round.

The Pitraïa range is also available in rosé, red and white The Renucci estate also offers a Vin Doux, which is a wonderful accompaniment to foie gras or a gourmet dessert. It is made from a later harvest, 100% Malvasia.
