The Clos Canarelli vineyard

Clos Canarelli is the southernmost vineyard in France. It nestles at the foot of the Omu di Cagna, a massif that rises to an altitude of 1215 meters, not far from the Bonifacio cliffs. Clos Canarelli's vineyards are cultivated in the traditional way, exclusively by hand. Chemicals are excluded from the operation, so no weedkillers, synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used.

Corsican grape varieties are grown biodynamically. The estate has been certified organic since 2002 and biodynamic since 2006. The soil is clay-limestone, with a significant granite component. The vines benefit from thermal amplitudes during the vegetative cycle, which bring a great deal of freshness to the wine. These vary from 10°C - 12°C at night, to 38°C - 40°C during the day.

Clos Canarelli grape varieties

Yves Canarelli set himself an arduous task and won his bet: to reintroduce endemic grape varieties, including the traditional Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu and Vermentinu, but also the more confidential Minustellu, Carcagholu Neru and Genovèse.
In all, fourteen grape varieties contribute to the estate's reputation.

Clos Canarelli wines

Clos Canarelli produces 15 cuvées. These are blends or parcels.

Clos Canarelli Rosé

Clos Canarelli Rosé is a blend of several grape varieties: 50% Sciaccarellu, 30% Niellucciu and 20% Grenache. The nose is fine and delicate. The palate is fresh and imbued with red fruits and spices.

Clos Canarelli Blanc

Clos Canarelli Blanc is a wine made from 100% Vermentinu. The nose of white flowers offers refreshing lemon notes. The palate is full-bodied, with remarkable mineral notes. Clos Canarelli is an excellent wine for laying down.

Clos Canarelli Rouge

Clos Canarelli Rouge is a blend of 80% Niellucciu, complemented by Sciaccarellu, Carcagholu Neru and Syrah. The nose is marked by black fruits, with smoky, wild notes. The palate is powerful and round. Clos Canarelli red improves with age and is a high-quality wine for laying down.

Tarra di Sognu Rouge

Tarra di Sognu Rouge is a blend of 50% Carcagholu, 40% Sciaccarellu and 10% Minustellu. The nose is floral and fine, the palate fruity and delicate. This is Clos Canarelli's most delicate wine, with great purity and rare elegance.

Tarra di Sognu Blanc

Tarra di Sognu Blanc is a blend of 80% Vermentinu, complemented by Carcagholu Neru, Riminese, Biancu Gentile and Génovès. The nose is complex, blending white flowers with aniseed and bergamot. The palate is mineral and saline.
