The winemaker

Château Capion The owners were able to trace the history of this castle built in the 16th sciècle until 1873, mentioned in old manuscripts. At that time already, the castle had 12 hectares of vines. A stream down from the Cevennes, the Gassac brought a little stony soil fertility. Today, there are 45 hectares of vineyards that make up the area, bought by a winemaker knew Africa in 1996. His approach, scientific and conscientious, began with a thorough study of soils to well master the land, draw up mapping basements. Their depth, but also their significant drainage are ideal for ripening grapes and therefore the fine aromas. The maintenance of the vine is done largely by hand, and the area is in organic conversion. The vines 30 years offer red wines composed of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The whites are made with Viognier, Roussanne, Chardonnay, Clairette, vermontino, Grenache Blanc and bourboulenc.
