The winemaker

The history of the estate

Ou means egg in the French language. It is the place where the property is located. Mas de l'Ou is a well-known stopping place for muleteers from the surrounding area. In 1998, Philippe and Séverine decided to buy the 30-hectare estate. There were 4 hectares of olive trees and 26 hectares of vines, all in the commune of Montescot. The property was immediately converted to organic farming.

This approach attracted 3 estates in the Roussillon region. In 2009, Séverine and Philippe decided to make the territory more complex, with 7 hectares of vines in Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes and a further 8 hectares in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet.

The characteristics of the estate

The first 30 hectares that made up the estate are currently 41 between the Agly valley and Montescot. IGP Côtes Catalanes and AOP Côtes du Roussillon are matured in stainless steel tanks or in new French oak barrels. The cellar and vineyard have been refurbished. The cellar is combined with a tactile and olfactory tour. It measures 150 square meters. The estate's production is sold by the bottle to private customers. The grape variety is dominated by Syrah, while white and rosé represent 8% and 2% respectively. This natural, sweet wine is a veritable totem of the region.

The estate's wines

Wine lovers have a wide choice of wines to taste at Château L'Ou. Both red and white wines are of excellent quality. The estate is committed to offering bottles of vin doux naturel. The team is made up of passionate, energetic people who have helped them develop top-of-the-range wines. The range in question goes perfectly with a variety of wines and foods. Whether you're a restaurant owner or a wine merchant, this estate invites you to enjoy an exceptional wine, and you'll want to try the whole range.

The Roussillon region's unparalleled richness is what allows it to transpire wine. You'll find single varietals (grenache, syrah...), blends (côte du Roussillon villages, côte du Roussillon...). You can try some of our favorites, including Infiniment de L'Ou red, with its sublime black color. You're sure to appreciate its spicy, licorice flavors. Infiniment de L'Ou white stands out for its vanilla mouthfeel. Its subtle flavors are underpinned by elegant, fine tannins. You'll marvel at the freshness and power of this wine.
