The winemaker

Located in the town of Fontanès, about 20 kilometers north of Montpellier, the area is one of the jewels of this famous appellation. The property covers 80 hectares in one piece, including 32 hectares of vines. On a soil of clay and limestone scree, the terraced vineyard, south / south-east, forms an amphitheater compound different plots inserted in the scrub. Here, everything is kind. The place is amazingly preserved, providing a unique interaction between minerals and plants, vineyards and woods. The remains of a feudal castle testify proud of a strong story related to a unique location at the crossroads of many paths taken by humans since time immemorial. Castle La Roque produces white, rosé and red wines come from vines grown biodynamic many years. The wines of La Roque are appreciated worldwide and the cuvee "La Cupa" is regularly praised by the specialist press. The red and rosé wines are made from Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache, while in the white grape varieties grown are the Viognier, Rolle (or Vermentino), Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Marsanne. Sylviane and Bertrand Barascud fell in love with this magical place. domain owners since the summer of 2015, they are involved with their team to write a new page in the history of the vineyard.
