The winemaker

Le Clos d'Elle is a young winery that produced its first vintages in 2009. Claude Bousquet, passionate about the vineyard, started planting the vineyard in 1987 with the hope one day to create his own vintages. It took him almost 20 years to realize this dream and today he works as a winemaker with his sons Mathieu and Benjamin. The name Clos d'Elle was chosen by Claude in honor of his daughter Coralie.

The winery

The vineyard covers nearly 60 hectares in Cournonterral in the Hérault. On these lands located between Sète and Montpellier, the garrigue and the marine influence create conditions conducive to the cultivation of the vine.

The soils are mainly clay-limestone, with rolled pebbles. The climate and vegetation are typically Mediterranean and the vines flourish to give intense, greedy and generous wines. The grape varieties include Grenache noir, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot.

Committed to offering wines of the highest quality, Claude is engaging his property in 2018, in a process of conversion to organic farming.

A traditional viticulture

Claude Bouquet puts his know-how and passion into wine production to obtain the highest quality vintages possible. Nearly 90% of the grape production is sent to the cooperative to be vinified.

The grapes from the most beautiful terroirs, carefully selected, remain at the estate. Their vinification is then carried out according to traditional methods, with maturation in stainless steel tanks for some vintages and in barrels for others. The rosés are pressed directly. The objective is to produce wines with a strong personality, expressing all the typicity of the terroir.

Claude Bousquet succeeds in his challenge and offers original, high quality wines in all three colors. His wines are elegant, full of finesse with rich aromatic bouquets and they have quickly seduced the chefs of the best tables in the region, but also more widely in France.

The wines

The A Huis Clos cuvée has received numerous awards, including a gold medal by the Gilbert & Gaillard guide and a silver medal at the Paris agricultural competition several times since 2015. It is a fresh and generous wine with aromas of black fruits and spicy notes, with a nice length in the mouth. It goes wonderfully with a duck breast, game or red meat.

Entrecœur vintage 2019 is a red in the Languedoc appellation with a burgundy color. The attack is firm with aromas of tobacco and cocoa. The mouth is fleshy with powdery tannins and hints of mint. This is a wine to enjoy with beef or veal.

Indecent Rosé 2020 is made from Grenache and Carignan. The nose offers a beautiful aromatic bouquet mixing strawberry, redcurrant, grenadine and hints of English candy. The mouth is generous and very fruity.
