The winemaker

Recently installed on an existing operating for 12 years, I will present my domain and the work that is done from the beginning by the winemaker who I succeeded André Moulière.   Sigalière is located on the site of a former farm of the Abbey St-Martin-de-Monteils. At the end of the tenth century Eleventh beginning, the monks of this abbey cleared the hillsides of calcareous marl to sow rye (in ségal Occitan, hence the origin of the name Ségahera, now SIGALIÈRE). The operation consists of 4.2 hectares of vineyards in the town of Carnas, a small village on the border of West Gard, dominated by its neighbor great Pic St-Loup. Nature is beautiful, the scrub smells good there. On these sunny slopes, often to excess, the vineyard produces only very low yields, but the aromatic power of its clusters is matched only by the chirping of cicadas at noon. The extreme conditions of implementation of our vineyard, the aridity of our land, forcing the roots to make their way into the limestone, and training of vines, the closest to the ground allows clusters to benefit from maximum 'sunshine. We cultivate our plots in the highest respect of the soil and the environment. The harvests are manual to ensure harvest in perfect health. The wine is made traditionally, no complex hardware to perform the operations that indigenous yeasts. We work very close to the material, hand and manually. Until Andre did not want to embark on the necessary steps to recognize this way of working "organic." For me, the process has been launched with the certification body Ecocert. Marie FISHERMAN
