The winemaker

The estate stretches across the plains of the picturesque village of Villesèque-des-Corbières, near Cascastel and Embrès-Castelmaure, and is perched on slopes with schist and clay soils. Most of the vines are over 50 years old, with a few over a hundred years old, planted in 1919. Our terroir offers a diversity of red and white grape varieties typical of the region. Carignan, Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault are particularly well adapted to our schisto-clay soils, which contribute to the quality of our vineyards. With us, no machines, tradition is the order of the day, everything is done by hand: from pruning to soil maintenance, including trellising and, of course, harvesting. In 2018, Stéphane joined forces with his wife Sabine to create Domaine Miradels. Attached to the values of terroir and nature, and encouraged by his daughters, Perline and Mégane, Stéphane wishes to reveal the best of his region in his wines, and is gradually guiding the estate towards HVE level 3 certification (High Environmental Value). The Gratacos family has therefore opted for sustainable viticulture, respecting a quality charter: respect for the soil and the worked soils, controlled yields with the aim of harvesting perfect grapes while respecting the surrounding garrigue.
